Its goal is to target the market for connected TVs, games consoles and tablets. Its strategy could lead to customers switching away from traditional pay TV services. The NOW TV service offers a streamlined interface and easy content access, with content from Sky+, Netflix, Disney+ and more available through one home page.
The new platform, formerly known as Now TV, is available on many devices and requires no satellite installation. It provides access to Sky channels as well as other paid channels, as well as live and on-demand sports. You can cancel your membership at any time. You can sign up for a rolling monthly payment or cancel it anytime. Memberships are usually for a limited time and allow you to watch a number of live channels and on-demand box sets.
Netflix jumped on the OTT bandwagon in 2007, and it’s still dominating the subscription OTT space today. YouTube had only launched two years earlier, and Blockbuster had tried to enter the market multiple times. In the UK, Netflix now accounts for more than half of subscription OTT users.
Compared to other OTT services, Netflix’s content is more localized in the UK, making it easier to connect with the local market. In addition to localised programming, Netflix also offers more Japanese titles than it does in the US. It’s estimated that by the end of 2018, more than 13 million people in the UK will be paying for OTT subscriptions, and that number is growing fast.
